Taken for Granted

~ Luke 17:11-19

11Now on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus traveled along the border between Samaria and Galilee. 12As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy met him. They stood at a distance 13and called out in a loud voice, "Jesus, Master, have pity on us!"

14When he saw them, he said, "Go, show yourselves to the priests." And as they went, they were cleansed.

15One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. 16He threw himself at Jesus' feet and thanked him—and he was a Samaritan.

17Jesus asked, "Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? 18Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner?" 19Then he said to him, "Rise and go; your faith has made you well."

Why are people so prone to be grace takers instead of grace givers? What practices could you adopt to prevent you from taking people for granted? Who comes to mind?

Journal Thoughts from Others

Why are people so prone to be grace takers instead of grace givers? What practices could you adopt to prevent you from taking people for granted? Who comes to mind?

Well, I am sure I have neglected to give praise to God for somethings and I would also be guilty of not thanking some people for their help and generosity. I believe that when anyone falls into these catogories of not being thankful they are forming a bad habit. It is easier each time we put off thanking someone and thinking we will do it later. I personally feel that the Holy Spirit has encouraged me to give thanks and I have usually done so. There are times where I have gone about my day not responding to the Holy Spirit's encouragement and never gave it a second thought. Other times I have felt troubled by my lack of a positive response. I think that praying that God will use me as a vessel of His Spirit so as to edify others is one practice I could adopt. I could be more thankful to some of the leadership within the Church and their wives. Also, I could be more thankful to my blood brother and sister.
