Hook: What motivates people to make financial donations to charity?

Book: Some people give to get, but what they receive pales in comparison to what they could have had. How could the temporary applause of people ever compare to the eternal reward of God? When you give to the needy to impress people instead of God, you make a statement about your heart. Jesus is not asking for secrecy but for pure motives. He must be pleased when the poor in spirit bless the poor in means.
