Hook: What drives people to go out of their way to hurt or insult another person?

Book: This treatment of Jesus was meant to go beyond abuse to mock Him and His claim to be the King of the Jews. Again and again they hit and insulted Him. Sometimes a mob stirs people to do things they may not do on their own. Righteousness makes a good target. People like to justify themselves by pounding good people down to make themselves feel superior. Ironically, their insults testified to the Lord’s greatness and their low character. When insulted, look beyond the hurts to see the motives.
