Jealousy’s Chaos

Hook: What motivates people to spread false rumors about others?

Book: During one night, Jesus endured six mock trials before religious or civil authorities. Unfairly, they arrested Him first and sought concrete evidence later. Their zeal to recruit false accusers only revealed their contempt and jealousy. Since they desperately wanted to put Jesus to death, they pounced on His claim to be the Son of God. Of course, this demanded that they ignore all His miracles and their own evil deeds. When things don’t make sense, jealousy is usually crouching at the door.

Took: Proverbs 27:4 asks, “Who can stand before jealousy?” How does the chaos of jealousy manifest itself in your world? What do you learn from Jesus’ response to jealous people?
