The Judas Friendship

Hook: Why does betrayal in a friendship surprise us? How does it hurt?

Book: Jesus was troubled in spirit because He knew that one of His friends was on the verge of betraying His love and friendship. When He offered the piece of bread to Judas, it was a token of intimate friendship, His invitation to remain loyal. When Jesus admonished him to do quickly his evil deed, He revealed His personal commitment to the Father’s purposes, even in this treachery. It is amazing how the Lord used Judas’ betrayal to make many future loyal friends with Jesus.

Took: When the betrayal of a friend hurts you deeply, how would Jesus long for you to respond?
