Hook: How can theological or religious conversations degenerate into ridicule?

Book: In an effort to prove their belief that there was no resurrection, the Sadducees asked Jesus a question dripping with mocking ridicule. Jesus responded with Scripture, indicating that the eternal promises to Israel demanded the patriarchs be alive in the future. Then Jesus pointed out the real issue: You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God. He responded to their ridicule with the clear teaching of Scripture, revealing their ignorance of God and His Word. Who astonished whom?
