Hook: Why do some people fear praying aloud in front of others?

Book: Possibly this fear stems from pressures and abuses they see in the praying styles of other people. Jesus rebuked hypocrites who made praying a sport hoping to be seen by others. These people often view others as inferior. Since Jesus said that your Father knows what you need before you ask Him, prayer does not require eloquence but dependence. Instead of being a prideful act, it should stimulate humble trust and hope in God. Remember, prayer has an audience of One.
