Hook: When was the last time you bumped into a rule that was insensitive to people?

Book: Jesus kept bumping into manmade rules for Sabbath keeping. After the religious establishment criticized His disciples for picking and eating grain, He put the issue in their faces by healing a man’s hand right in their synagogue. Evidently it was permissible for them to criticize on the Sabbath but not for Jesus to heal. Not only did Jesus expose their hypocrisy, He revealed that He is the Lord of the Sabbath and He makes the rules. Jesus was always willing to confront those who controlled or hurt His people.
