Defending Yourself

Hook: How should you defend yourself when your character is attacked?

Book: In this passage, Jesus is still defending himself for healing the invalid man on the Sabbath. He rejects the judgment of men and appeals to the grander testimonies about Him by John the Baptist, the Father, the Scriptures, and Moses. His critics would rather enjoy the praise of each other than these witnesses for Christ. Jesus knew that their rejection of Him included rejecting His witnesses as well. Even though His detractors thought they were complying with the writings of Moses, these same words would haunt and judge them one day. Jesus rested in the defense of His witnesses, not the expectations or demands of men.
