Book: In the previous passage Jesus was condemned because His words equated Him with God the Father. In this answer, He revealed that He and the Father are so closely linked that all judgment has been placed in His hands. Even more, believing the words of Jesus is essential for eternal life (verses 24–27) since His words will be the basis for future judgment. What these religious leaders called blasphemy was in reality revelation and hope from God. The words of Jesus mattered then, matter today, and will matter forever.
