Upside-Down Worship

Read: John 2:13–22

Hook: What do you think God would like or dislike in worship practices today?

Book: In His first temple cleansing, Jesus repudiated the abuses of the greedy religious establishment. They were taking advantage of their temple positions so they could sell animals and exchange currency to pad their pockets at the expense of even the poor who could only afford doves. The Lord’s drastic actions reminded them that worship is about God, not humans, and that His followers must invest their efforts in helping, not hurting, others worship the Lord.
