Only Jesus knew the purpose was to cause the disciples to fully believe in Him before He entered Jerusalem the final time. The death and resurrection of Lazarus would not only bring faith to His followers but anger and jealousy to His adversaries. Even though the Lord’s delays may not be always understood, they are never without a spiritual purpose.
