Hook: What surprises do you anticipate in heaven?

Book: A big surprise will be who actually is in heaven. Jesus’ response to this question revealed the reasons why various people won’t be there. Some procrastinate in believing (verse 25), others refuse to abandon their evil ways (verse 27), and many will depend on their religious heritage instead of faith (verse 28). These religious people assumed they were the first, guaranteed heaven, but will actually be the last. Those outside their circle whom they considered the last will be first because they believed. This is self-deception of the worst kind.
