Hook: How do people gloss over their mistakes or sins?

Book: While being rejected, Jesus raised the issue of sin. He said they would die in their sins. Some put their faith in Him, but others would not understand His true identity until He was on the Cross, where even the Father would speak and confirm their relationship. Jesus tied His identity and mission to the forgiveness of sin, but they showed little interest. They must have felt so secure in themselves that they could ignore, even kill, the Son of God. They showed no concern for the consequences coming for their sin.
