Hook: Why do some people act as if they are never satisfied with your efforts?

Book: The religious establishment had too much at stake to accept Jesus. To bide for time, they repeatedly asked for signs of Messiah even though Jesus had already filled their eyes with miracles and their ears with truth proving His divinity. Their lack of satisfaction merely revealed that they were a wicked and adulterous generation. When Jesus would finally grant their wish for a sign, it would be His death and resurrection, which would seal their doom.
